Maureen Gumbe Hesed World’s Secretary. She is an experienced educator and poet, specializing in tutoring English, French and Mathematics. Her multifaceted background in education, language and humanitarian work aligns perfectly with Hesed World’s mission. Maureen began her career as a Primary School teacher in Guyana. Later, she transitioned to the humanitarian sector, serving in various roles at UNHCR for over two decades. Her time at UNHCR included fieldwork in Angola and Cambodia.

 Maureen holds a BA in Modern Languages from Hunter College, majoring in French and Spanish, with a minor in Education. She also holds a Diploma in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute for International Studies.
