Introducing the Hesed World Youth Community

Last year, Hesed World conducted mentorship surveys across Nigeria, Kenya, and Malawi, engaging with hundreds of young people about their aspirations, challenges, and needs.
The findings revealed a consistent pattern: opportunities exist, but the pathways to accessing and maximising them remain unclear. Young people expressed a need for structured guidance, connections to industry professionals, and spaces where they could learn from peers navigating similar journeys.
In response, Hesed World has established the Youth Community: a digital space designed to connect young people across borders with professionals, mentors, and one another in meaningful, ongoing dialogue.
How the Community Works
The Youth Community operates through bi-weekly discussions and monthly expert sessions. Topics are chosen by members themselves through a voting process, ensuring that conversations reflect the real questions young people are asking; about career navigation, skill development, entrepreneurship, and the opportunities available to them.
Bi-weekly discussions are facilitated by the community admin team and centre on peer-to-peer learning. Members share experiences, insights, and lessons learned, creating a knowledge-sharing ecosystem where young people learn from those who have recently walked similar paths.
Once a month, the community brings in industry experts: professionals with years of experience in fields aligned with the topics members have prioritised. These sessions provide access to guidance, perspective, and practical knowledge that can be difficult to access otherwise.
The structure reflects Hesed World's broader commitment to intergenerational collaboration: young people learning from one another, while also drawing from the wisdom and experience of established professionals.
Who the Community Serves
While the initiative begins with young people in Nigeria, Kenya, and Malawi—Hesed World's three pilot countries—the community is open to youth across Africa and beyond. This reflects the organisation's vision of creating global networks that connect young people across contexts, fostering cross-cultural learning and collaboration.
A Space for Growth and Connection
The Youth Community is part of Hesed World's wider strategy to unlock economic opportunity for young people in developing countries. It complements the organisation's mentorship programmes and skills training initiatives by creating an accessible, ongoing space for learning, connection, and mutual support.
As the community grows, it will serve as a foundation for future programming, including in-person meet-ups, local events, and expanded networks that extend well beyond individual success.
Registration is now open. Young people interested in joining Hesed World's Youth Engagement Community can find more information here.
